Admission: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)


As per AKTU norms, the criteria for admission in B. Tech is as follows:
General & OBC Category: 45% in PCM,
SC & ST Category : 40% in PCM

As per AKTU norms, the criterion for admission in MBA & MCA is as follows:
General & OBC Category: 50% in PCM
SC & ST Category : 45% in PCM


In the month of May.


Admission procedure is as mentioned below:

  1. Filling of application form (hard copy /online )
  2. Shortlisting of applications
  3. Fee payment
  4. Admission after fee payment


B.Tech: Candidates need to pass the intermediate exam from U.P. Board or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, and Chemistry/Biotechnology /Biology/Technical Vocational as optional subjects.
B.Tech. (Bio-Technology): Candidates require Physics and Mathematics or Biology as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry/Bio-Technology/Technical Vocational as optional subjects.
B.Tech (Lateral Entry): Candidates must have a three-year Engineering Diploma or three-year B.Sc. degree, along with passing the 10+2 exam with mathematics as a subject (excluding Agriculture Engg., Pharmacy, and Architecture).
MBA: Applicants must hold a three-year Bachelor's degree without any grace from any recognized university.
MCA: Candidates should have a three-year Bachelor's degree with Mathematics in 12th without any grace, or a BCA degree from any recognized university.

Yes, You may qualify for scholarships or fee reductions based on your category or caste, provided you're admitted. Government options include the AICTE "Pragati Scheme" for females and UP Government scholarships for both genders. Additionally, numerous private scholarships are available.

YES, several Banks offer Education Loans for the payment of fees. Please contact Banks for more details in this regard.


There are many banks including State Bank of India within one kilometre distance of the campus.


You have to take admission first by paying necessary fees (you have to make arrangement for first year) and apply for a Fee Structure & Bonafide certificate from college. Then college will give the certificate. The bank sanctions loan after Bonafide certificate is submitted by the candidate while applying for loan and sends it to college or students account as per bank’s policy. If it comes to the college account then college gives refund to the student.

Yes, you can change but it is strictly based on your 12th-grade marks percentage.


No, there is no donation. Primarily you need to pay only as per the norms while taking admission. No extra fee is charged from any candidate while taking admission.

Note: No Donations/Capitation Fees is taken at IMS Engineering College. Any such demand should be reported to IMSEC Intelligence and Vigilance Department at vigilance@imsec.ac.in

After filling the application form, you cannot edit the form, must inform it to Admission cells regarding this.


For B.Tech admissions, calculate your aggregate marks by considering either all subjects or the best of five, depending on the institution's requirements.

Aggregate of all subjects:
Add up the marks obtained in all subjects in your 12th class. Divide the total marks by the total number of subjects. Multiply the result by 100 to get the percentage.

Best of five subjects:
Identify your top five subjects based on marks obtained. Add up the marks obtained in these five subjects. Divide the total marks by 5 (as there are 5 subjects). Multiply the result by 100 to get the percentage.
