National Centre For Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) , A-50, Sector-62, Noida for an Industrial visit

The students of 2nd year, 4th Sem – CSE3 of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering along with faculty members Mr. Aashish Kumar and Mr. Aditya Sam Koshy visited National Centre For Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) A-50, Sector-62, Noida for an Industrial visit on 02 June 2023. 

This visit was mainly focussed on to understand the concepts of Weather forecasting using Super Computer & AI technologies. Dr B. Athiyaman, Scientist F & Head, Computer Department, their trainers and coordinators explained about the organization, their methods of working with different technologies, the difference between different models used for the Weather Prediction and forecasting along with their advantages and disadvantages. He also explained about the Super Computers and how it has been used in Weather prediction and analysis. After the Presentation, a tour was arranged for the Super Computers like Cray X- MP, Cray XC 40 and IBM and the steps to use them were explained. Overall the Industrial visit was very informative and beneficial for the students.
